Twelve stops show how Bitcoin works. None of them lets you send a real payment. The wall does. One empty square costs 1 sat, so a first mark is small enough to try and real enough to land on the Lightning Network.
The sealed corner is the coins nobody has mined yet. Those squares stay closed until they exist.

A square nobody has painted costs 1 sat. Each new paint costs one sat more than the last. The price never goes down and never resets. No account, no email, no login. You pay an invoice and the squares are yours. Nothing is approved.
What Lightning
changes.
Bitcoin writes every payment onto every machine on earth, forever. That is what makes it hard to undo, and too heavy for a sat. Lightning keeps score off-chain, then settles.
Every round is signed. Either side can cash it in. Joseph Poon and Thaddeus Dryja published it in 2015, four years after Satoshi stopped writing.

Custodial is fastest to start. Self-custodial keeps the sats on your phone, and nobody can recover them for you.
- 02Put a few thousand sats in it
Most wallets sell a small amount inside the app. An exchange can also pay you out over Lightning.
- 03Pick your squares
Choose a colour and make something simple, strange or beautiful.
- 04Scan the invoice
Squares are held for ten minutes while you pay. They are yours the moment the payment lands.

This wall is not a product, an investment or a token. Nothing is minted, nothing is written on-chain, and no drawing is promised to last. Payments are final, like any Lightning payment. Pay only what you are willing to lose.
