To receive bitcoin, open your wallet and tap Receive. It shows an address and the same address as a QR code.
- Share the address, or let the sender scan the QR code.
- Use a new address each time; your wallet does this for you.
- On a hardware wallet, check that the address on your computer matches the one on the device.
What you see next
A few seconds after the sender pays, your wallet shows an incoming transaction marked as unconfirmed or pending. The payment has reached the network but is not yet in a block.
Once a miner includes it in a block, it gets its first confirmation. From then on, it is part of the shared ledger.
Mind the network
Make sure the sender sends actual bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. Some exchanges offer other networks or wrapped versions of bitcoin; sending those to a Bitcoin address can mean losing them.
